SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Former Dartmouth standout Sean Furey ’05 placed first in the men’s javelin this past weekend at the 2014 USA Track & Field Championships hosted by Sacramento State.

Competing unattached, Furey bested the rest of the event’s 16 competitors with a mark of 266-1.0/81.10m on his fifth throw of the day. That mark was six feet better than the second-place thrower, giving Furey this year’s national championship.

Furey was also the 2010 USA outdoor champion (262-0/79.86m) as well as the 2011 runner up (255-10/77.99m) and was a member of the 2012 Olympic Team in London.
