Memorial Field to Host Women's 5000M Viewing Party on June 14
HANOVER, N.H. – With her finish this past weekend in Jacksonville at the East Regional, Dartmouth senior Abbey D'Agostino punched her ticket to the 2014 NCAA National Championship meet in Eugene, Oregon.
Dartmouth Athletics will host a FREE viewing party for the finals of the 5000m on Saturday, June 14 at Memorial Field, encouraging fans to come out and cheer on D’Agostino as she seeks her eighth career individual national championship.
Sophomore Dana Giordano also qualified in the event after claiming fourth in her heat and eight overall in the semifinal race on Saturday night, giving the Big Green two in the event’s national championship race.
The ESPNU television broadcast will be shown live in HD on the new video scoreboard in Memorial Field with seating available in the South end zone.
The event is open to the public beginning at 5:30 p.m. with events from Oregon on the video scoreboard throughout. D’Agostino and Giordano’s race is scheduled to begin at 6:24 p.m. ET.
Dartmouth Athletics will have water and ice cream for those in attendance.
Fans and Dartmouth supporters are also encouraged to support D’Agostino and share photos of themselves in Dartmouth gear via social media using the #RunwithAbbey hashtag during the days leading up to the race as well Saturday.In addition to D’Agostino and Giordano, the Dartmouth women will also be sending senior Megan Krumpoch in the 800m (Wednesday, 7:45 p.m. ET). On the men’s side John Bleday and Curtis King will run in the national finals of the 5000m on Friday night at 9:10 p.m. ET.
All of the week's events will be carried live on ESPN family of networks, including ESPN3 and ESPNU.
