EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Dartmouth junior Jane Lee (North Shore City, New Zealand) followed up an opening-round 80 (+9) with a seven-under 78 — the third-lowest score of the second and final round — to finish in a tie for fourth at the Brown Bear Invitational at the Metacomet Country Club. Her performance helped the Big Green place among the top half of the 12-team field.
Harvard, which had four of the top 10 golfers (and another that tie for second who played as an individual) claimed the team title with a two-round total of 628 (+60) with Boston University a distant second with a 648 (+80). Dartmouth finished in sixth place with a 677 (+109).
Medalist honors went to the Crimson’s Tiffany Lim thanks to the low round of the tournament (two-over 73) on Sunday. She finished the 36 holes at 10-over par with a 152, four strokes ahead of teammate Brenna Nelsen and Mariana Juaristi of Fairleigh Dickinson.
Like Lee, senior Sarah Knapp (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.) improved by two strokes from the first to the second round, carding an 83 (+12) on Sunday followed by an 81 (+10) this afternoon to tie for 15th. Freshman Tara Simmons (Goldsboro, N.C.) laid claim to a tie for 37th by going 86-87 for a 31-over 173.
Also competing for the Big Green were sophomore Lily Morrison (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.), who tied for 56th place, and senior Kathryn Kennedy (Medina, Minn.) in 64th. Participating as individuals were junior Savannah Grice (Atlanta, Ga.) in a tie for 46th and senior Evan Sterneck (Leawood, Kan.) in 58th.
Dartmouth will next play at the University of Hartford on Sunday, April 20.
