Shamrock Invite Concludes for Dartmouth Men With Strong Showings

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Dartmouth men’s outdoor track & field team wrapped up its first weekend of competition Saturday at the Shamrock Invitational. The meet was hosted by Coastal Carolina at Doug Shaw Stadium.

Edward Wagner was fifth in a field of more than 30 runners in the 400m hurdles, crossing the line in 53.98.

In the top section of the men’s 400m, Jalil Bishop ran to a 23rd-place finish in 49.86, good for third in his heat. In another heat, Phil Gomez posted a time that had him just back of Bishop, crossing in 50.09 and in 25th place overall.

John Abraham won his heat of the 200m and finished 21st overall in 22.35, while Daniel Katz was 25th overall in 22.51 after taking second in his respective race.

The Big Green’s 4x400m relay team claimed second in its section and 11th overall. Gomez, Wagner, Bishop and Jonathan Brady combined to post a 3:19.61.

The triple jump saw Corey Muggler take the top spot in his  flight with a 46-2.5/14.08m, while Jeremy Birck was second in another with a measured distance of 44-0.0/13.41m. Those marks were good for ninth and 19th overall, respectively.

The discus saw Timothy Brennan claim fifth overall with a 152-4/46.43m on his sixth-and-final throw of the afternoon. Alex Frye also took fifth in his respective event, doing so in the high jump as he cleared 6-6.75/2.0m on his first attempt at the height.
