MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Anna Kikut’s win in the 200m highlighted the final day of competition at the Shamrock Invitational for the Dartmouth women’s outdoor track & field team. The meet was hosted by Coastal Carolina at Doug Shaw Stadium Saturday afternoon.
Kikut ran a 25.71 to finish first in a field of nearly 50 runners. Erica Hendershot was eighth overall in 26.76.
In the long jump, sophomore Kaitlin Whitehorn took the second position with a measured distance of 17-4.25/5.29m. More than 40 competitors comprised the event’s field.
Katy Sprout also turned in an impressive showing Saturday. Sprout ran to a fourth-place finish in the 400m hurdles, crossing the line in 1:01.37. Also running in the event were Lauren Ready (21st, 1:07.53) and Janae Dunchack (22nd, 1:07.53).
The other Kikut sister, Sara Kikut, led the Big Green contingent in another section of the 200m, taking 20th in 25.49, besting Anna’s time, but not placement. In addition to the long jump, Whitehorn also ran in this section of the 200, finishing just behind Sara in 25.57 to take 22nd.
Dunchack was another two-event participant on this day, claiming 29th in the javelin with a toss of 103-1/31.42m. Miranda Lawson was 32nd with a 97-8/29.76m on her second throw.
