MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Dartmouth men track & field team began the outdoor portion of its 2014 season Friday at the Shamrock Invitational hosted by Coastal Carolina at Doug Shaw Stadium.
The biggest showing of individual Big Green competitors in one race came in the 100m where John Abraham led the team with a 13th-place finish in 11.23. Additionally, Alex Frye (50th, 11.75), Jeremy Birck (11.89) and Josh Cyphers (12.00) all factored in the event’s final results. None of the times qualified to move on to Saturday’s final.
Frye would also compete in the 110m hurdles, claiming 12th in 15.23. Daniel Katz was 25th in 16.03, while Jules Hislop was 27th in 16.16 in the event’s prelims.
The first outdoor meet of the year also saw Jim Budzinski compete in the javelin, claiming ninth in a field of 40. His sixth-and-final throw of the day was measured at 190-10.0/58.17. Jacob Shippee was 12th in the event as his first toss of the day went 181-9.0/55.40m.
The Shamrock Invitational continues Saturday.
