SAN JOSE, CALIF.  – In a battle that lasted over four hours, The Dartmouth women's tennis team fell to San Jose State, 4-2, on Sunday evening at the Spartans Tennis Complex.

Sarah Bessen and Akiko Okuda won single flights for the Big Green, but Dartmouth dropped the doubles point. 

In doubles action, Dartmouth (3-3) won one of the three flights, as Suzy Tan and Julienne Keong Si Ying defeated Sabastiani Leon Chao & Tipper Truong, 8-4. 

In the sixth flight, Bessen defeated Justine Dejeval in a tight first set 7-6 and then in convincing fashion, 6-2, in the second. Okuda needed three sets to complete the come from behind victory over Julianna Bacelar 2-6, 6-2, 6-4.

Tan forced 11 match points in her three-set affair with Jessica Willett, but eventually fell 6-2, 0-6, 7-5 after taking the second set, 6-0. In the battle at no.1, Yau took Marie Klocker to an extra set but the match was unfinished 6-4, 6-7 (7-1). 

The Big Green will continue their West Coast trip with a meeting at Fresno St. on Tuesday evening.
