PRINCETON, N.J. – The Dartmouth women’s swimming and diving team placed third at the 2013 Big Al Open hosted by Princeton University over the weekend. 

The Big Green’s third place finish was behind host and winner Princeton with 1,024 points. Yale was second with 907 and the Big Green finished with 600 points. Brown, Villanova, Rider and Columbia rounded out the remaining teams in the open.

Dartmouth finished third in the 200-Free in 1:33.31, which ranks second all-time in program history. Senior Mary Van Metre, junior Siobhan Hengemuhle and sophomores Kendese Nangle and Charlotte Kamai made up the third-place squad.

Nangle placed second in the 100-Back, completing the event in 55.67. She also placed third in the 50-Free, finishing in 23.20.  Kamai finished fourth in the 100-Free in 50.51.

Senior Danielle Kerr finished fourth in the 500-Free at 4:53.74. Kerr also took eighth in the 100-Fly, at 56.59. Classmate Christine Kerr placed sixth in the 200-Free at 1:51.01. Freshman Heather Laedtke placed fourth in the 100-Breast, finishing in 1:05.33 and sixth in the 200-Breast in 2:21.94.

Senior Katy Feng placed fourth in the three-meter diving competition with the score of 254.05.

Dartmouth as a squad placed fourth in the 400-Medley Relay and the 800-Free Relay.
