Women's Track & Field Opens 2013-14 Indoor Season at Harvard Open
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The majority of the Dartmouth women’s track & field team began the 2013-14 indoor season Saturday at the Harvard Open held inside the Gordon Track & Tennis Center.
Six individuals won events as the Big Green went up against teams from Holy Cross, Saint Rose, the host Crimson and others.
Jennifer Meech won the 200m (25.35), while Megan Krumpoch took the top spot in the 800m, crushing the field by more than eight seconds as she ran a 2:15.14.
Elizabeth Markowitz led a trio of Dartmouth runners in the mile, posting a 4:56.51 to take the win. Meggie Donovan (5:01.66) and Abby Markowitz (5:07.57) were second and third, respectively.
Defending Heps champion, Kaitlin Whitehorn got her sophomore campaign off to a great start with a win in the high jump, clearing 5-8.75/1.75m.
The Big Green throwers had a great day as Emmaline Berg (44-11.50/13.70m) won the shot put and Cathy Liebowitz (50-8.0/15.44m) earned the first-place showing in the weight throw.
Dartmouth will be back in action next week at the Carisella Invitational inside the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston.
