CANTON, N.Y. – The Dartmouth women’s hockey team lost to St. Lawrence, 4-1, on Saturday in ECAC Hockey action inside Appleton Arena. The Big Green fought hard, outshooting the Saints, 13-7, in third period, but St. Lawrence netminder Carmen MacDonald stood her ground to earn her fifth victory of the season.

Dartmouth (1-6-0, 1-5-0 ECACH) has now lost six of the last eight to St. Lawrence (5-7-0, 4-2-0 ECACH), including two in a row in the Empire State.

The turning point in the contest came with less than a minute remaining in the first period as St. Lawrence freshman Alex Moore scored back-to-back goals a mere 22 seconds apart to give the Saints a 3-0 lead.

The two conference rivals skated to a scoreless second period as MacDonald made 10 saves and Dartmouth goaltender Robyn Chemago stopped all 13 shots she faced.

In the third period, the Saints stretched their lead to 4-0 when Jessica Hon registered her third marker of 2013-14. Later in the stanza, Dartmouth freshman Mackenzie St. Onge intercepted a pass in the high slot and sent a slap shot that beat MacDonald under the cross bar for her first collegiate goal.

Kayla Raniwsky opened the scoring just over two minutes into play netting her third tally of the year for St. Lawrence.

With the man advantage, the Big Green went 0-for-2 while the Saints went 1-for-4. St. Lawrence held a slight edge in shots, 35-34.

Offensively, sophomore Lindsey Allen had a team-high eight shots on goal for Dartmouth while classmate Laura Stacey added seven.

In just her second career start, freshman Robyn Chemago played well between the pipes for the Green and White, turning aside 31 shots in a losing effort while MacDonald made 33 saves for the Saints.

The Big Green return to the ice next weekend, Nov. 15-16, welcoming Colgate and No. 3 Cornell into Thompson Arena in ECAC Hockey action. The contest with the Raiders is set for Friday at 7 p.m. and the showdown with Big Red is gets underway Saturday at 4 p.m.
