Men's Tennis Closes Out Gopher Invitational with Eight Wins

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Dartmouth men’s tennis team closed out the 2013 Gopher Invitational with six wins in singles action and a pair of doubles victories. The Big Green went 6-2 against DePaul and 2-0 against Princeton on the final day of the event.

Last year at the event, Dartmouth went 2-3 against DePaul and showed development in its singles success.

In Flight 1, Brandon DeBot cruised to a 6-2, 6-1, triumph over David Vieyra while George wall and Erik Nordahl each won their matches in straight sets in Flight 2. Dartmouth also swept its matches in Flight 3 as Cameron Ghorbani and Sam Todd won in straight sets. In Flight 4, Diego Pedraza scored a come-from-behind, three-set win versus Paul John.

In doubles action, the Green and White grinded out wins against Ivy League rival Princeton. The tandem of Dovydas Sakinis and DeBot scored an 8-7 win while Pedraza and Wall netted an 8-5 victory.

Over the three days of competition, Dartmouth went an impressive 9-4 in doubles and 25-6 in singles.

The event served as the fall finale for the Big Green, who return to action on Jan. 18, as they welcome Bryant and Villanova into the Boss Tennis Center and Gordon Pavilion.
