HANOVER, N.H. – Dartmouth men’s lacrosse head coach Andrew Towers has announced the team’s 2014 schedule, highlighted by four matches in the Upper Valley at Scully-Fahey Field.
The Big Green will take to the field 12 times in the regular season, including a trip to the Lone Star State to compete in the Patriot Cup for the second straight year.
Coming off a 3-11 record in 2013, the Big Green looked to rebound with a challenging slate this season.
Dartmouth opens with five straight games away from home. The team will sandwich a pair of two-game road trips around the Patriot Cup contest versus Sacred Heart at SMU Stadium in Dallas, Texas on March 1.
For the third consecutive year, the Big Green will travel to Chapel Hill, to square off with North Carolina. The season opener with the Tar Heels is scheduled for a 2 p.m. start on Feb. 22.
Dartmouth next travels to face regional rival Vermont on Feb. 25. The Green and White have won five in a row versus the Catamounts.
After the Patriot Cup, the team from the Upper Valley heads to University Park, Pa. for a non-conference clash with Penn State. The tilt with the Nittany Lions is the first between the schools since March of 2006.
The Big Green next open their Ivy League slate on March 22, traveling to Cambridge for a Saturday afternoon matchup with Harvard.
On March 29, Dartmouth plays its first game of the year in Hanover, taking on perennial national power Cornell in conference play. The following weekend, April 5, the Green and White play host to Yale.
Towers’ squad then has their final road trip of the 2014 campaign, heading to Hartford on April 8 for a non-conference contest before traveling to Princeton in Ivy League action on April 12.
The rest of April will see Dartmouth welcoming Penn (April 19) and Holy Cross (April 29) to Scully-Fahey Field. The final road game of the season is at Brown on April 26. The mid-week contest with the Crusaders will see the team honor the Class of 2014.
