EAST GREENWICH, R.I. – Sophomore Matt Klein led the Dartmouth men’s cross country team at the Rothenberg Run Friday afternoon with a second-place individual collegiate finish in 25:38.
Thanks in large part to Klein’s finish, the Big Green claimed second in the team standings with 47 points at Gothard Park, trailing only the hosts from Brown and its 24 points with five top-10 runners.
In addition to Klein, senior Matthew Pierce also claimed a spot in the top-10 for the Green and White, taking sixth in 25:52 on the 8K course.
Sophomore Peter Geithner and freshman Julian Heninger were 12th and 13th, respectively, in 26:04 and 26:21. Freshman Daniel Salas rounded out the scoring Friday for Dartmouth, one spot back of Heninger as he claimed 14th in 26:27.
The top individual collegiate harrier on his day was Brown junior Mark McGurrin, crossing in 25:24, nearly 14 seconds ahead of Klein.
Seven other members of the Big Green will be running Saturday afternoon at the Wisconsin adidas Invitational in Madison.
