MATTAPOISETT, Mass. – The Dartmouth women’s golf team carded a team total of 315 on Monday during the final round of the Harvard Invite to finish in third place.

The 2013 Harvard Invite was contested at the Bay Club at Mattapoisett and boasted a field of five teams.

Harvard rallied from a three-stroke deficit after round one, to score a seven-shot win over second-place Penn. The Big Green’s two-round total of 625 (310-315) left them one stroke ahead of fourth place Brown. Merrimack came in fifth with a tournament total of 645.

Harvard’s Anne Cheung shot a 72 in the final round to earn low individual medalist honors. Dartmouth’s low scorer for the event was Jane Lee with a two-day total of 148. Lee followed an opening round 71 with a 77 to finish in fifth place.

Freshman Tara Simmons continued her strong play early in the season, firing a 77 in the final round to enter the clubhouse tied for 11th.  Sarah Knapp was the only member of the Big Green to shoot a lower score in the final round, shaving five strokes off her opening 80 to finish 13th.

Kathryn Kennedy and Jessica Goldstein rounded out the field for the Green and White. Kennedy matched her opening round score of 86 on day two to end tied for 24th while Goldstein carded an 89 to finish in 26th.

Lily Morrison competed individually for Dartmouth, shooting an 87 in the second round to earn a share of 24th.

The Big Green return to the links Oct. 27-28, traveling to Pennsylvania to take part in the Lehigh Invitational.
