Women's Golf in Third After Round One at the Harvard Invite

MATTAPOISETT, Mass. – The Dartmouth women’s golf team shot a team total of 310 in the first round of the Harvard Invite on Sunday to sit in third place.

The 2013 Harvard Invite is being contested at the Bay Club at Mattapoisett and boasts a field of five teams.

Penn carded an aggregate total of 296 to hold a three-stroke advantage over second-place Harvard heading into the final round. The Big Green have a three-shot edge over fourth-place Brown and Merrimack rounds out the field in fifth place.

Dartmouth’s Jane Lee fired a 71 to tie for the lead with the Crimson’s Anne Cheng. Tara Simmons is also in the top-ten after the opening 18, as she shot a 75 to earn a share of seventh.

Sarah Knapp’s 80 left her in a three-way tie for 13th while Jessica Goldstein and Kathryn Kennedy rounded out the field. Goldstein carded an 84 to earn a share of 24th and Kennedy shot an 86 to enter the clubhouse in 25th.

Lily Morrison competed individually for Dartmouth, shooting an 85 to land in 24th.

The Big Green wrap up the two-day event on Monday, Oct. 14, playing 18 holes as they look to move up the leaderboard.
