Women's Golf Opens Yale Intercollegiate

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Dartmouth women’s golf team shot a team total of 317 (+33) during the opening round of the Yale Intercollegiate on Friday to sit in 11th place heading into the weekend.

The 17-team field is competing at the par-71 The Course at Yale.

The host Bulldogs fired an aggregate total of 292 to hold a five stroke advantage after the first round over Boston University. Xavier and Charleston Southern are tied for third while Penn rounds out the top five.

Boston University’s Adela Cejnarova and Yale’s Elisabeth Bernabe were the only two players to shoot under par in round one, carding two-under par 69’s to share the lead.

The low scorer for Dartmouth was Tara Simmons with a five-over par 76 to earn a share of 14th place.

The second page of the leaderboard was scattered with members of the Big Green as freshman Jamie Susanin shot a 79 to enter the clubhouse tied for 41st.  Jane Lee and Sarah Knapp each carded opening round scores of 80 to sit in a logjam of eight players tied for 47th. Lily Morrison rounded out the field for the Big Green with an 81 to sit in a tie for 55th.

Dartmouth continues the three-day Yale Intercollegiate on with the second round on Saturday, Sept. 21.
