Dumais was the taken by the Montreal Stars with the 14th overall pick in the third round and Fischer was the final member of the Class of 2013 picked as she went to the Alberta Hockey Club with the 21st overall pick in the fifth round.
“I'm just excited to be able to be a part of such a great organization. I know Montreal has been a top contender and I hope to make this team better in any way I can. I'm certainly looking forward to finally being able to play with such top players that I've looked up to during my career,” Dumais said in a quote sent to the CWHL official website.
ECAC Hockey had 15 players drafted with the Big Green leading the way with a trio of former student-athletes picked, while Clarkson, Rensselaer and Union each had two players selected.
The CWHL Draft took place via conference call with general managers from the Alberta Hockey Club, Brampton Thunder, Boston Blades, Montreal Stars and Toronto Furies set to select players from a list of 67 prospective players. It marked the fourth annual entry draft for the Canadian Women’s Hockey League.
The Canadian Women's Hockey League is the premier women's hockey league in the world. The CWHL is a centrally funded league, meaning that all participating teams in the CWHL receive equal access to funding and are given the same opportunities to succeed. Every dollar goes toward building a league that is dedicated to raising the profile of women's hockey while providing a place where the best female hockey players in the world can come to train and compete.
Players whose rights are not held by a CWHL team were eligible to register for the 2013 CWHL Player Signing Draft prior to Aug. 20. As part of the registration process, each prospective player indicated the CWHL city or cities in which they are willing to play.
