Winnipeg Jets Development Camp With Tyler Sikura: Day 5
Day 5: July 18, 2013
Today was the exact same schedule as yesterday with a morning skate followed by an afternoon workout and mental coach session.
Our exit meetings were held this evening where each player went into the coach’s room with various members of the organization and received our fitness testing scores relative to the rest of the camp. They also offered some feedback on how your week went and personal advice on what you should work on to better prepare yourself for the next level. We stopped back in at the hotel briefly to change then headed right back to the MTS Centre to watch the KISS concert from a private box upstairs.
Both groups are on the ice together for the first time Friday morning where we will play a 3-on-3 game, followed by team bonding with Air Force and a BBQ for dinner.
This week has been one of the coolest experiences I’ve ever had. It’s a real eye opener to see how well you are treated at the next level and it is extremely motivating to see how hard you have to work to get there. I’d like to thank the Winnipeg Jets organization for having me out and I hope that this week established a relationship that could blossom in the next couple of years.
They’ve been first class all week long and take so much pride in what they do. My goal is to take the things that I’ve learned from this week and apply them not only to my own game but also to share them with my Big Green teammates. I’m counting down the days until September when we begin another quest for a national championship title.
I’m not sure if I’ll have time to write anything Friday so this will be my last entry. Thanks for reading all week and see you at the rink this year!
