PRINCETON, N.J. – After going 4-0 in the circle against Brown to open North Division action, sophomore southpaw Kristen Rumley (Katy, Texas) earns her first career Ivy League Player of the Week honor while also racking up Pitcher of the Week honors for the third time this season. She was also named CollegeSportsMadness Ivy League Player of the Week for her efforts over the weekend.
Rumley was dominant in the circle in the Big Green’s four-game sweep of Brown last weekend. The sophomore pitched all four games allowing a combined six hits, with three one-hit games. In her 25.0 innings of work, she struck out 19, allowing just one earned run, that coming on a home run in the series finale. For the weekend The Texas native was equally impressive from the plate, going 7-of-13 with four walks. She also hit her first collegiate home run and scored six runs.
Rumley continues to re-write the Dartmouth record books and with her four wins picked up her 17th win of the season, moving her career win total to 23, which ranks her fifth on the all-time wins list. Her 19 strikeouts also move her into No. 2 on the Big Green’s all-time strikeouts list with 287 career K’s. She is poised to become one of two players to throw at least 300 career strikeouts. The sophomore is currently leading the Ivy League in wins with 17, strikeouts with 136 and in ERA standing at 1.53 on the year.
In the national statistics, Rumley is ranked No. 19 in walks allowed per seven innings with 1.15 and is No. 30 in ERA (1.53). Her 17 victories also rank her No.40 nationally.
Dartmouth is back on the diamond on Saturday when the Big Green travel to Yale for a crucial North Division series with the Bulldogs. First pitch for both Saturday and Sunday is at 12:30 p.m. at Yale’s Dewitt Family Field.
