HANOVER, N.H. - This weekend in Fayetteville, Ark., will see some of the best student-athletes in the nation compete at the 2013 NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championship Meet. Arkansas will host the event at the Randal Tyson Track on both Friday and Saturday.
One of those top collegiate performers making her way to the Razorback State is Dartmouth junior Abbey D'Agostino.
NCAA Championships are nothing new to the third-year distance runner from Topsfield, Mass., as this weekend will mark D'Agostino's sixth consecutive appearance at a national meet in either cross country, indoor or outdoor seasons.
In 2013, D'Agostino will be competing in both the 5000 and 3000 meters.
The 5000m race is set to begin Friday night at 8:55 p.m. ET (7:55 p.m. local), while the 3000m is scheduled to take place Saturday at 8:40 p.m. ET (7:40 p.m. local).
Recently named the 2013 USTFCCCA Division I Northeast Regional Indoor Women's Track Athlete of the Year, D'Agostino is one of the top distance runners in the nation this season.
She won both the mile and the 5000m two weeks ago at Heps in Cambridge, earning the meet's 'Most Outstanding Performer' honor yet again. The junior ranks as one of the fastest in both events this winter by a college female.
Her individual national championship in the 5000m at last spring's outdoor meet was the first for a Dartmouth women in program history and the first by any Big Green student-athlete in 15 years.
D'Agostino will also look to continue her trend of earning All-American status at a sixth straight NCAA Championship meet (2011 and 2012 Outdoor, 2012 Indoor, 2011 and 2012 Cross Country). She placed eighth in the 3000 during the finals of the 2012 meet in Boise last March as well as helping the DMR to a third-place finish.
