Three-time All-American Sam Tarling leads the Green on the snow, while inside, Senior Faziah Steen is heading up the surging Big Green women's basketball team. Tarling returned from competing in the Czech Republic to lead the men's cross country ski team with a win in the 10K Classic to go with a 2nd place finish in the 10K Freestyle. Steen had a season-best 19 points against Yale leading the women's basketball team to an Ivy sweep on the road.

Each week, will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as the Northeast Credit Union Athletes of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition.

Faziah Steen (Detriot, Mich.) Sr., G Women's Basketball

Faziah Steen tallied a season-best 19 points against Yale and led the Dartmouth women's basketball team to Ivy League road wins over Brown and Yale over the weekend. Steen, Dartmouth's leading scorer each of the last three season's, is averaging 12.1 points and has posted five consecutive games in double figures. The senior co-captain is also the Big Green's best free throw shooter, shooting at a .813 (39-of48) clip.

Sam Tarling  (Cumberland, Maine) Sr., Nordic, Men's  Skiing

Tarling made a triumphant return to carnival racing after competing in the Under-23 World Championships in the Czech Republic, claiming second in the 10K Freestyle and the top spot on the podium in the 10K Classic at the Vermont Carnival this past weekend. In the first race, finished ahead of the third-place finisher by nearly 20 seconds, then defeated the field the second day by almost 10. The 2011 national champion in the freestyle, Tarling is a three-time All-American and has 19 podium finishes to his credit. He has also finished among the top 10 in each of his last 15 collegiate races.
