The Dartmouth College swimming and diving teams will host the third annual Dartmouth Invitational Friday-Saturday at the Upper Valley Aquatic Center in White River Junction, Vt. Friday's events start at 5 p.m. and Saturday's competition begins at 9 a.m.

Big Green Women Defeat New Hampshire -
In the lone meet for the Big Green last week, the women's team defeated instate rival, New Hampshire, 160-140. The win was the second consecutive for Dartmouth over the Wildcats and the first in Durham since 2008-09. The win gives the Big Green women dual meet wins over Vermont and New Hampshire this season.

Another Day, Another Record - The Big Green women set a pool record in their win over the Wildcats on Wednesday. The 200-free relay set a new Swasey Pool record with a time of 1:37.59; it is the second time the 200-free relay has set a record this season, also setting a new school record at the Brown Invitational.

Dartmouth Invitational Time - This weekend's Dartmouth Invitational will welcome teams from UMass, Northeastern, Boston College, Maine, Connecticut College, Boston University and Vermont. The two-day event will be hosted at the Upper Valley Aquatic Center in White River Junction, Vt. The diving portion of the meet will take place at Karl Michael Pool in Hanover. Last Road Meet Until Ivies - The women's meet against New Hampshire marked the last road meet for the Big Green until they travel to the Ivy League Championships in March.

Home Sweet Karl Michael Pool - Dartmouth opens a stretch of home meets with the third annual Dartmouth Invitational this weekend. The meet will take place at the Upper Valley Aquatic Center. The Big Green will host Connecticut (Feb. 2) and Columbia (Feb. 10) at Karl Michael Pool to close out the competition season. 

Big Green Divers Steppin' Up - Senior Erica Serpico (Moorestown, N.J.) picked up her second consecutive 1-meter title against New Hampshire. She also claimed the 1-meter title against Yale and Penn (Jan. 12). Big Green divers swept the boards against the Wildcats as Katy Feng (Westford, Mass.) took the 3-meter title. 

Gillis Books Ticket To NCAA Zone Meet - Freshman diver, Brett Gillis (Kitchner, Ontario, Canada), had a solid outing against Penn and Yale.  The rookie claimed the 1-meter title with a score of 298.8 and was second on the 3-meter. His scores qualified him for the NCAA Zone Meet in March.

Scouting the Competition - The Dartmouth Invitational will welcome five combined teams in: Boston College, Boston University, Connecticut College, Maine and UMass.  Northeastern and Vermont will only send women's squads.  UMass will be making its third consecutive appearance at the invitational while Maine and Boston College will be appearing for the second time. Boston University, Connecticut College, Northeastern and Vermont will each be making their first appearance at the competition.

Welcome Aboard!  - The swimming and diving programs welcome a total of 20 freshmen to the men's and women's swimming and diving teams for 2012-13. The freshmen feature four internationals and talent from across the U.S. Joining the men's team are 10 new faces in Aaron Athanas (Beverly, Mass.), Logan Briggs (Issaquah, Wash.), Daniel Chen (Lake Oswego, Ore.), Brett Gillis (Kitchener, Ontario, Canada), Matthew Ginsberg (Scarsdale, N.Y.), Joseph Kind (San Francisco, Calif.), Jake Lee (Jacksonville Beach, Fla.), Jun Oh (Andover, Mass.), James Verhagen (Randberg, South Africa) and Daniel Whitcomb (Winnetka, Ill.). On the women's side there will also be 10 new faces in: Laura Hayes (Reno, Nev.), Emily Holt (Louisville, Ky.), Charlotte Kamai (Corte Madera, Calif.), Laura McCulloch (Durban, South Africa), Kendese Nangle (Kingston, Jamaica), Katie Papa (Califon, N.J.), Olivia Samson (Clifton Park, N.Y.), Koryn Ternes (Austin, Texas), Maddie Wall (St. Louis, Mo.) and Briana Williams (Cypress, Texas). Welcome to the squad!

Freshman Diver Gillis Attends Canadian Olympic Trials - Freshman diver Brett Gillis (Kitchner, Ontario, Canada) spent part of his spring trying to make the 2012 Canadian Olympic team. The freshman took 16th on the 10-meter board.

Henn and Guardalabene Named Captains of the Women's Squad - Senior Isa Guardalabene (Albany, Calif.) and junior Erin Henn (Lawrenceville, N.J.) will serve as team captains for the women's team for the 2012-13 season.

Derdeyn and Doherty to Captain Men's Team - Seniors Will Derdeyn (St. Louis, Mo.) and Zack Doherty (Pelham, N.Y.) will serve as co-captains for the men's team this season.

Lannan Joins Squad as Assistant Coach - Ross Lannan begins his first season as an assistant coach for the Big Green. Lannan comes to Hanover after spending two seasons in the same capacity at Bryant University in Smithfield, R.I. Welcome aboard Coach Lannan!

Wilson Returns for 20th Season- Head Coach Jim Wilson is in his 20th season as head coach of the Dartmouth swimming and diving squads. Wilson, originally hired to coach the Dartmouth men, took over the women's team in 2006. Wilson also returns assistant coach Jenn Verser while Chris Hamilton returns as Dartmouth's diving coach. Ross Lannan begins his first season as an assistant coach.
