HANOVER, N.H. - The No. 8 Dartmouth men's hockey team will once again play before a television audience when it takes to the ice Friday night at No. 5 Quinnipiac. The game with the Bobcats will air live on NESN at 7 p.m.
The Big Green enter the weekend as the eighth-ranked team in the nation in the most recent poll from U.S. College Hockey Online. The No. 8 ranking is the highest showing for the program in the history of the polls and also came with the first-ever first-place vote cast for the Green.
Recently, Dartmouth knocked off No. 2 New Hampshire, 4-1, in the second primary game of the 2012 Ledyard Classic Sunday night in front of a sold-out Thompson Arena crowd of 4,500 fans. The following night, though, saw the Big Green fall, 3-2, to UMass in a hard-fought contest for the tournament title.
Friday's match-up with Quinnipiac at the TD Bank Sports Center pits ECAC Hockey's best two teams in the standings against one another in a top-10 battle. The Bobcats are first in the league at 8-0-0, while Dartmouth is second at 4-1-1, having played two fewer games.
Cab Morris was named the league's Goaltender of the Week and the Big Green boast one of the nation's top penalty killing units, which should figure to match up well with the talented Bobcats.
Already this season, the Big Green have two wins over top-10 teams, taking out No. 8 Union, 3-2, in early November before dispatching of its in-state rival just three days ago.
