Women's Tennis Wraps Up Play at Northeast Regionals

WEST POINT, N.Y. — Sophomore Akiko Okuda led the Dartmouth women's tennis team at Northeast Regionals over the weekend, posting a 3-1 singles record to become the only Big Green player to advance to the Round of 16. Okuda highlighted the weekend by beating #4 seed Lindsay Graff of Princeton, in the Round of 32 before falling to #15 Heidko Tachibana of Harvard.

In doubles action, Okuda teamed up with freshman Katherine Yau to advance to the quarterfinal round. The pair won three straight, defeating teams from Manhattan, Buffalo and Brown easily before falling to #1 Lindsay Graff/Amanda Mulliwan, 8-6 to end their run.

Sophomore Janet Liu and rookie Suzy Tan also put up a strong doubles performance on day one of the tournament, falling just short of upsetting #2 seed Columbia. The pair lost the tiebreaker, 9-7.

Overall, the Big Green finished the weekend with a 6-4 singles record and a 3-2 doubles mark.

Dartmouth is back in action Friday, Nov. 2 for the Big Green Invitational in Hanover.
