HANOVER, N.H. - Head coach Chris Wielgus and the Dartmouth women's basketball team recently announced its 2012-13 schedule. Six non-conference home games are on the schedule and are highlighted by trips to Leede Arena from Brigham Young and Syracuse.

The Big Green will also host the 36th annual Blue Sky Classic, which includes Delaware, Duquesne and Villanova in the field.

"Dartmouth and the Upper Valley are in for a basketball treat," said Wielgus.  "Our very young team will be challenged early, often and at home. The likes of BYU, Syracuse, Hartford, Delaware with Elena Delle Donne, Villanova and Duquesne will play in Leede Arena before January 1.  After the New Year, it is all about the Ivy League.  I am excited for the season and all its challenges."

Dartmouth opens the season on Nov. 10 with a trip to the Ocean State to take on Bryant University. The Bulldogs and Big Green square off for the fifth consecutive season with Dartmouth owning a 3-1 series advantage.

Dartmouth welcomes BYU to Leede Arena on Nov. 13 in the first game of a doubleheader with the Big Green men. The Cougars will be making their first trek to New Hampshire and are coming off a 2011-12 season in which they claimed the West Coast Conference Tournament title and advanced to the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The Cougars recorded their sixth 20-win season in the past 10 years a season ago and led the nation in assists per game.

The Big Green will then embark on a stretch of games that features six road games with trips to regional foes Albany (Nov. 24), Northeastern (Nov. 27) and New Hampshire (Dec. 5).  Additionally, the Big Green will travel to powerhouse Old Dominion (Dec. 2), as well as take a trip to South Florida for a game with Florida International (Dec. 15) before heading to Milwaukee. Wis., to take on Marquette (Dec. 19) from the Big East.

Sandwiched between games against Northeastern and Old Dominion, Dartmouth will host Big East foe Syracuse on Nov. 29. The Orange will make their second trip to Hanover, and their first since 2000-01 when they participated in the Blue Sky Classic. The Orange is coming off a 22-15 season in 2011-12. Syracuse reached the WNIT semifinals for its third consecutive postseason appearance.

The Blue Sky Classic will return to its original tournament form in 2012-13 and features Delaware, Duquesne and Villanova. Dartmouth will square off with the A-10's Duquesne on Dec. 29 for a trip to the championship game the following day.  The tournament is the longest running uninterrupted tournament in collegiate women's basketball.  Delaware, the No. 14 ranked team in the final ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll, went 31-2 in 2011-12 and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament behind All-American Elena Delle Donne, while Duquesne recorded its fourth consecutive 20-win season and participated in the WNIT. Villanova also played in the WNIT in 2011-12 and advanced to the third round.

The Big Green round out the non-conference slate with a home game against Holy Cross (Jan. 3) and a trip to Amherst, Mass., to take on UMass (Jan. 6) and former Dartmouth assistant coach Sharon Dawley.

The Ivy League season begins on Jan. 12 when Dartmouth travels to Harvard. The four-time Ivy League champion Princeton Tigers host Dartmouth on Feb. 15 before making the trek to Hanover on March 2.

Longtime coach Wielgus is entering her 28th year on the Dartmouth sidelines and owns a 387-320 record. She has coached the Big Green to 12 Ivy League Championships and last captured the Ancient Eight title in 2008-09.
