HANOVER, N.H. — The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced its final 2012 regional rankings on Wednesday and Dartmouth and junior Sarah Leonard earned spots in the top 10. Leonard is ranked eighth in the Northeast Region in singles, and the Big Green are eighth in the Northeast Region in the team rankings.
Leonard was recently named First Team All-Ivy for the first time in her career, and it marked the third time she earned All-Ivy honors. During the dual match season, the junior played entirely at first singles. She finished 9-9 at the top spot with a 3-4 mark in Ivy League play. She earned conference victories over Cornell, Princeton and Harvard. She also had victories at then 45th-ranked Boston College, 24th-ranked Arkansas and Akron, who won the Mid-American Conference with a 24-3 record.
The Big Green concluded their season on April 28 in a home loss to Harvard. Dartmouth finished the year 8-13 overall and 2-5 in the conference. The team and head coach Bob Dallis recently announced Leonard, Christina Danosi (New Albany, Ohio) and Jeri Reichel (Hilton Head Island, S.C.) will be captains for the 2012-13 season.
