HANOVER, N.H. — The Dartmouth women's tennis team and head coach Bob Dallis recently announced its team awards and the three captains for the 2012-13 season. The captains for the Big Green are seniors Christina Danosi (New Albany, Ohio), Sarah Leonard (Norwalk, Conn.) and Jeri Reichel (Hilton Head Island, S.C.). For the team awards, Leonard was named the Most Valuable Player, sophomore Rachel Decker-Sadowski (Santa Barbara, Calif.) was named the Most Improved and senior Shelley Carpeni (New York, N.Y.) earned the Class of 1985 Spirit Award.

Leonard will serve as a captain for the second consecutive year and earned Dartmouth's Most Valuable Player honor for the first time. She achieved First Team All-Ivy in singles in 2012, after making the second team in 2010 and 2011. During the dual-match season, the junior played entirely at first singles. She finished 9-9 at the top spot with a 3-4 mark in Ivy League play. She earned conference victories over Cornell, Princeton and Harvard. She also had victories at then 45th-ranked Boston College, 24th-ranked Arkansas and Akron, who won the Mid-American Conference with a 24-3 record.

Reichel played in 21 doubles matches and seven singles matches for Dartmouth in the spring. She earned seven doubles victories and had two in singles. Danosi played in two doubles matches during the dual-match season with both coming at the second spot.

Decker-Sadowski won eight singles matches and eight doubles matches in the spring. She played third through sixth singles and first through third doubles. She was 7-7 at second doubles and 6-4 at sixth singles.
