HANOVER, N.H. — The Dartmouth men's tennis team improved to 6-0 on the season with a 5-2 home victory over Marquette on Sunday at the Alexis Boss Tennis Center. It marked the third home win of the season for the Big Green, while the Golden Eagles dropped to 3-3 overall.
Dartmouth earned the doubles point by winning all three matches. Senior Michael Laser (Glencoe, Ill.) and junior Alex de Chatellus (Tiburon, Calif.) won at the top spot, 8-5. Junior Xander Centenari (Towson, Md.) and senior Chris Ho (Los Altos, Calif.) also earned an 8-5 win at third doubles. In the second spot, sophomores Cameron Ghorbani (Lexington, Mass.) and Brandon DeBot (Stevens Point, Wis.) won a tight match, 8-7.
In the singles portion of the contest, freshman Chris Kipouras (San Ramon, Calif.) claimed the first point by defeating Jonathan Schwerin at the fourth position, 6-3, 7-6. Ho gave the Big Green a 3-0 lead, defeating Drake Kakar at sixth singles, 6-3, 6-4. Ghorbani secured the match with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Vukasin Teofanovic at third singles.
After the match was decided, Laser defeated Dan Mamalat in the second position, 7-6, 7-6. Centenari lost at the top spot in three sets to Jose Crowley, and DeBot fell to Logon Collins in straight sets at fifth singles.
Dartmouth returns to action next week when it hosts the ECAC Championships on Feb. 17-19.
