With sticks and with racquets, Big Green athletes continue to represent the best Dartmouth has to offer with skill and dedication. Cameron Ghorbani on the tennis court and Sasha Nanji on the ice have been named this week's DartmouthSports.com Athletes of the Week.
Each week, DartmouthSports.com will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as the DartmouthSports.com Athletes of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition.
Sasha Nanji (Markham, Ontario), Jr., D, Women's Hockey
Junior Sasha Nanji had a stellar weekend for the Big Green, helping Dartmouth to back-to-back Ivy and ECAC Hockey victories. The defenseman tallied four goals and two assists on the weekend for six points. At Brown on Friday, the junior scored the team's first two goals in a 3-1 victory. The next night at Yale, Nanji totaled four points on two goals and two assists. The four points set a new career high and tied sophomore Ali Winkel (Espanola, Ontario) for the highest single-game point total by a Dartmouth player this season.
Cameron Ghorbani (Lexington, Mass.), So., Men's Tennis
Sophomore Cameron Ghorbani helped the Dartmouth men's tennis team start its winter season with three wins at the Tribe Kickoff Tournament hosted by William & Mary. Ghorbani competed at second singles and second doubles with sophomore Brandon DeBot (Stevens Point, Wis.). Ghorbani went 4-2 overall, with a 2-1 mark in singles and a 2-1 mark in doubles. With his effort, the Big Green defeated George Washington, Iowa and host William & Mary to claim the tournament title.
