Each week, DartmouthSports.com will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as the DartmouthSports.com Athletes of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition.

Madeline Baird (Austin, Texas) Senior, Volleyball

Senior Madeline Baird (Austin, Texas) recorded 21 kills, 16 digs and two assists in the 3-1 victory over Harvard on Saturday. She hit an impressive .360 on 50 attempts at 5.25 kills per set in the contest. With the 21 kills, Baird is now four kills away from tying the program's all-time kills record of 1,180 held by Ashley Dean '02. Baird also moved into a tie for sixth on Dartmouth's all-time digs list with 1,052.

Shawn Abuhoff (Oakland Twp., Mich.), Senior, Football, Cornerback

Senior cornerback Shawn Abuhoff was one of the key contributors on defense in the biggest Big Green shutout victory in 15 years as Dartmouth earned a homecoming triumph over Columbia on Oct. 22. Abuhoff led the Green with six tackles, but more importantly forced two key fumbles early in the third quarter, both of which led to touchdowns and turned a 16-point lead into a 30-point bulge. His performance also earned him the Ivy League's Defensive Player of the Week award, his seventh weekly honor from the league in his career. He was the Rookie of the Week three times in 2008 and has been the Special Teams Player of the Week three times since November of last season.
