Team members are currently studying, interning and volunteering abroad in a variety of countries thanks to the flexibility provided by the College's four-quarter Dartmouth-Plan system. Each student-athlete will provide at least one blog entry about her experiences.

Hello from Cape Town, South Africa!

This term, Sarah Parks, Kirsten Goldberg and I are living in an apartment together in the middle of Cape Town, South Africa. While I can't speak entirely for Parks and Goldberg, I know that so far, my time here has been amazing. We all came here through Connect-123, which is a program that set us each up with internships in different fields based on our interests.
While I am here, I will be doing a marketing internship for an African fashion website called, a site that  works to promote ethical African fashion to the international fashion market. Trust me when I say that I am the last person in the world that you would call fashion savvy, but I am really enjoying my job and it has been an awesome experience learning about what it takes to successfully market a small online business.
Outside of our internships, the three of us have been exploring the city and frequently going on little adventures to different sections of town. So far we have visited the V&A Waterfront, which is near one of the soccer stadiums used for the 2010 World Cup, Camps Bay, which is a great beach on the Western side of South Africa, and Fat Cactus, a Mexican restaurant that has the best chicken fajitas and has quickly become one of our favorite places to eat.
That's all for now, more to come soon about our trips to Cape Point and the Cederberg Wilderness Reserve, two amazing places a couple of hours outside of the city that we have visited so far.
