Each week, DartmouthSports.com will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as Dartmouth's Athletes of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition. As the 2010-11 season is just getting started, one female athlete stood out, making volleyball junior Kendall Houston the choice for Big Green Athlete of the Week. Dartmouth will resume selecting a male athlete of the week on September 14.
Houston turned heads all weekend with her play at the Sacred Heart Invitational and was named co-MVP for her efforts. The Big Green went 3-0 to start the year.
Dartmouth Female Athlete of the Week:
Kendall Houston (Austin, Texas), Women's Volleyball, Setter, Junior
Junior setter Kendall Houston was named the co-MVP of the Sacred Heart Invitational as the Big Green women's volleyball team was the co-Champion with a 3-0 record. Houston averaged 9.45 assists, 1.91 kills, 2.27 digs and 0.82 blocks per set, and was named all-tournament along with MVP. Her nine blocks (five solo and four block assists) led the Big Green. Her top match was against Binghamton when she recorded a career-first triple-double. She had 10 kills, 39 assists and 10 digs.
