After playing the first three matches of the 2017 season at home, the No. 1 Dartmouth women’s rugby team will hit the road for the first and only time to take on No. 4 Harvard. Fans who purchase a subscription will be able to watch live on the Ivy League Network (ILN).
LAST TIME OUT
The Big Green had a 57-0 victory over Princeton in a friendly 45-minute scrimmage at Brophy Field last Saturday.
Nine different Dartmouth players ended up on the scoresheet. Ashley DuPuis and Eva Klein both had two tries – their first of the season – to finish with 10 points apiece, while Kat Ramage scored one try and converted two for nine points. Alex Stendahl had four of the team’s six conversions for eight points.
Dartmouth claimed the top spot in the National Intercollegiate Rugby Association (NIRA) coaches’ poll, collecting nine first-place votes. Defending national champion Quinnipiac earned the remaining four first-place votes to sit in second.
After Central Washington in third was Harvard and rounding out the top five was Army West Point, which was ranked third when it fell to Dartmouth by a score of 45-7 two weeks ago.
SCOUTING THE CRIMSON
Harvard enters this weekend with a record of 3-0-1 following impressive wins over No. 9 West Chester (61-0), Mt. St. Mary’s (130-0) and No. 10 Brown (84-8) and a tie against Army (33-33).
LAST TIME AGAINST HARVARD
On Oct. 1, 2016, the Big Green earned a hard-fought 22-19 victory over the visiting Crimson, handing Harvard its first defeat of the fall. Isabel Boettcher had three tries, Klein had one and Ramage had a conversion.
PLAYING AGAINST THE ALMA MATER
Head coach Katie Dowty will coach against her old team as she is a former player and captain with the Crimson. After graduating in 2006, she moved on to the Beantown Rugby Club until 2011, where she served as a player, captain and fundraising chair.
