From the links of Princeton, N.J. to the softball diamond tucked away in the corner of campus, this week's athletes continue to excel for Dartmouth. Freshman Maddie Damore hit three home runs in a 10-1 win over Yale. Classmate Jeffrey Lang finished each of the three rounds at the Princeton Invitational under par to tie for second.

Their efforts are rewarded by being named the Northeast Credit Union Athletes of the Week.

Each week, DartmouthSports.com will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as the Northeast Credit Union Athletes of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition.

Maddie Damore, Fr., Campbell, Calif., 1B, Softball

Freshman Maddie Damore hit .385 last week which included a rare feat, nailing three home runs in a single-Ivy game. She completed the weekend with eight RBI and one double. In Game two of Saturday's sweep over the Yale Bulldogs, Damore hit three consecutive home runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings. She is the first Ivy freshman to clip three homers since Cornell’s Kate Varde hit three against the Big Green on April 13, 2001. Damore added her final RBI of the weekend in the nightcap of Sunday's series sweep over Yale.

Jeffrey Lang,  Fr.  Lexington, Mass.,  Men's Golf

Jeff Lang finished each of the three rounds at the Princeton Invitational under par to tie for second at seven-under for the tournament, just one stroke off the lead. In the first round, the freshman from Lexington, Mass., carded six birdies while finishing with a 69 (-2), but his final round was his best with four birdies and par on the other 14 holes. His performance led the Big Green to third place as a team in the field of 15 schools  at two-over par, behind only Harvard (-20) and Yale (-17).
