The winter is winding down with championship season going full speed. Janae Dunchack and Nejc Zupan have made the most of their championship appearances. For just the second time in Ivy League history, one student-athlete dominated the pentathlon for the entirety of her career as Dunchack won the event for the fourth straight year on Saturday, joining Brown’s Lindsay Taylor (1998-01) as the only woman to accomplish the career sweep. Senior  Zupan won the Harold Ulen High Career Point Swimmer Award after winning two Ivy titles this weekend at the Ivy League Championships.

Their efforts are rewarded by being named the Northeast Credit Union Athletes of the Week.

Each week, DartmouthSports.com will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as the Northeast Credit Union Athletes of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition.

Janae Dunchack, Sr., Northern Umbria, Pa.,  Multi, Women's Track and Field

For just the second time in Ivy League history, one student-athlete dominated the pentathlon for the entirety of her career as Dunchack won the event for the fourth straight year on Saturday, joining Brown’s Lindsay Taylor (1998-01) as the only woman to accomplish the career sweep. Dunchack recorded 3,895 points across the five events for the fourth-highest point total in meet history. That figure was thanks to a win in the 60m hurdles (8.79) and second-place showings in the high jump (5-7.0/1.70m) and shot put (37-5.0/11.40m). She would also go on to pick up eight points in the long jump with a second-place finish. Her efforts helped Dartmouth claim second place as a team with its highest point total (102) in program history and its best finish at Heps since 1996.

Nejc Zupan, Sr., Kamnik, Slovenia,  Free/IM, Men's Swimming

Senior Nejc Zupan won the Harold Ulen High Career Point Swimmer Award after winning two Ivy titles this weekend at the Ivy League Championships. Zupan set a Blodgett Pool record winning the 200 breaststroke in 1:54.29 and earning an NCAA B cut. He also broke a 34-year-old pool record in the 100 breaststroke in 53.52. Zupan finishes with eight Ivy titles in his four-year career with the Big Green..
