HANOVER, N.H. – The hard work is paying off for the Dartmouth men’s tennis team as the Big Green are ranked No. 41 in the country in the latest ITA Rankings released Tuesday morning.

The nine-point jump from being No. 52 last week gives the Green and White their highest ranking in program history.

Interestingly, the move in the rankings comes on the heels of loss to No. 22 Memphis last Friday at the Boss Tennis Center. In fact, all three of Dartmouth’s losses this season have been to teams currently ranked in the top-30.

“This is a nice accomplishment for our team.  We have competed at a consistently high level this year and the ranking is a reflection of that,” head coach Chris Drake said.

“Our three losses are to teams currently ranked 18, 20 and 27 and two of those matches were 4-3, so we are knocking on the door of the next level for our program. While we are pleased with the progress we have made, there are still many things that we feel we can improve on and we will stay focused on our continued development as individual players and a collective unit.”

Joining the team in receiving national accolade were the Big Green’s top doubles tandem of Cameron Ghorbani and Brendan Tannenbaum. Ghorbani and Tannenbaum have beaten duos ranked No. 10, No. 13 and No. 16 in the nation so far this season and were recently tabbed the No. 15 playing partners in the NCAA.

“This is a great accomplishment for Cam and Brendan. They have worked hard to solidify their identity as a dominant team and they really do a good job of playing to their strengths,” Drake added.

“They have some greats wins already this year that show they can play with the best in the country.  They also have things they can do better and are hard at work to make those improvements.”

Dartmouth is one of three Ivy League teams in the most recent poll, joining Columbia (No. 20) and Harvard (No. 30).

The Big Green return to action this weekend, Feb. 28 –Mar. 2, traveling to Indiana for a two-game road swing against Ball State and the Hoosiers.
