Women's Golf Ends Fall with Seventh-Place Finish

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Dartmouth women’s golf team shot an aggregate score of 325 in its final round of the fall on Monday to move up one spot, finishing seventh at the Lehigh Invitational. Four members of the Big Green carded lower scores in the second round to help the squad leapfrog the host Mountain Hawks.

The two-day, 36-hole event was contested at the Saucon Valley Country Club and boasted a field of nine teams.

Harvard shot a team score of 297 in the second round to score a 12-shot victory over second-place Princeton while Seton Hall, Georgetown and Boston University rounded out the top five.

Kelly Shon of Princeton shot a closing round 69 to score a four-stroke victory and earn low individual medalist honors.

The low scorer for Dartmouth in the event was Jane Lee. Lee shot a 76 over the final 18 holes to finish in a tie for 12th. She was also second on the team with three birdies over the two days.

Sarah Knapp ended the tournament with a 76 to jump into a tie for 16th while carding a team-high 23 pars.

Tara Simmons lead the Big Green with four birdies in the event and fired a final round 77 to enter the clubhouse in 18th.

Evan Sterneck rounded out the scoring players for Dartmouth, shooting a 96 to finish 43rd.

Lily Morrison competed individually for the team from the Upper Valley, shooting a closing round 82 to finish in 38th.

The tournament concluded the fall season for the Big Green who return to the links is 2014 with a challenging slate of events.
