BOSTON – The Dartmouth men’s cross country team ran to a third-place finish at the 2013 New England Championship Saturday afternoon at Franklin Park.

Leading the way for the Big Green was freshman Matt Herzig. The Weston, Mass., native who grew up running on this same course crossed the line in 24:54, taking 16th overall in the 8K race.

Central Connecticut took the top spot in the tam standings with 54 points, while Northeastern  was second with 79, just 10 more than the Green and White's 89.

Freshman Nate Adams was 21st in 25:03, while sophomore Tim Gorman claimed 24th in 25:06. Brian Masterson ran a 25:14 to earn the 32nd spot with Tony Anzivino in 40th with a 25:20. Rounding out the scoring was senior Matthew Pierce in 25:28, taking home 46th.

Dartmouth’s top runners will be back in action next weekend as the team will make the trip to compete at the Wisconsin Invitational in Madison.
