HANOVER, N.H.- The Dartmouth sailing team had its most successful weekend of the fall Oct. 5-6, reeling in five top-five finishes in a quintet of regattas throughout the northeast, highlighted by a pair of second place results.

The Big Green came in second among the 16-team field at the Jesuit Open hosted by Fordham and also at the Hewitt Trophy hosted by Dartmouth at Mascoma Lake.

At the Hewitt Trophy, the Big Green racked up 106 total points. In the A-Division, Hunter Johnstone and Victor Hollenberg finished seventh with 73 points over 10 races. Their best finish was second in the first race of the regatta. In the B-Division, freshmen Charles Lalumiere and Mia Steck won their heat with 33 points. Lalumiere and Steck won a pair of races and had four second place finishes.

At the Jesuit Open, Dartmouth had 56 points to finish 15 points behind Hobart and William Smith Colleges. The four sailors competing in both A and B Divisions both registered 28 points over eight races. In A Division, Kelsey Wheeler and Lizzie Guynn won two races while Evan Read and Abigail Rohman finished in the top five in seven of the eight heats.

Dartmouth came in third in the 20-boat fleet at the Danmark Trophy hosted by Coast Guard. The Big Green produced 144 points to finish just five points back of second place Connecticut College. In A-Division, Matthew Wefer and Avery Plough tied Boston College for fifth with 87 points over 10 races. In B-Division, Scott Houck and Julia McKown tallied 57 points to finish third in their heat. Houck and McKown won a race and had six other top-five finishes.

At both the Central Series 4 hosted by Tufts and the Bowdoin Women’s Invitational, Dartmouth finished fifth out of seven team fields.

The Big Green return to the water next weekend. Oct. 12-13, competing in four regattas.
