Game One: Dartmouth Picks Up Second Straight Shutout in 5-0 Win (Dartmouth 5, Brown 0)
The Dartmouth softball team (18-17, 8-4 Ivy League) picked up its second consecutive shutout in a 5-0 win over Brown. The Big Green put two runs on the board in the first inning and never looked back.
Hillary Hubert (Grant Park, Ill.) reached on an error by the Brown shortstop, Janet Leung, and was plated on a stand up triple from Katie McEachern (San Diego, Calif.). A RBI single from Morgan McCalmon (Norman, Okla.) sent McEachern around the bases and gave the Big Green the lead.
The defense really kept the Bears rattled as they only placed three runners on base in the first game.
Alex St. Romain (Chatham, N.J.) had a great day. The catcher went 2-of-3 from the plate with a run and two RBI. She put the game out of reach in the sixth inning with a two-run home run that pushed the score to 5-0.
Rumley threw a complete game and allowed just three hits while striking out six. In fact, the closest the Bears come to scoring a run in the first game was in the first inning. Brown posted a leadoff single and added a runner on a fielder’s choice but a strikeout and groundout ended the threat.
McEachern also had a great day at the plate. She went 2-of-3 with a run and a hit to go along with two RBI.

Averitt put down a perfect bunt ,which scored Lohmann and gave the Big Green their fourth straight win.
Brown (7-22, 1-11 Ivy) got on the scoreboard first, with a home run from Trista Chavez, just the second run of the weekend for the Bears but Dartmouth wouldn’t be down long and scored a run in the home half of the inning.
Rumley reached on a walk to open the inning and was moved to second on a sacrifice from Hubert in the next at bat. The pitcher rounded the bases on a single from Kelsey Miller (Mansfield, Texas) and got the Big Green on the board.
Dzienkowski had the hot bat in the second game, going 3-of-4 with a run. She started a big second inning for Dartmouth with a single up the middle, the first of four hits for the Big Green leading to three runs.
Lohmann was key in the second game as she posted a team-best three RBI and rounded the bases three times.
