HIGH POINT, N.C. – Saturday marked the end of the Dartmouth men’s track & field team’s week in North Carolina for the start of the 2013 outdoor season. The second meet in the Tar Heel State was the High Point VertKlasse Meeting held at Dick Vert Stadium.

Freshman Edward Wagner once again was a highlight for the Big Green, this time winning the 200 meters of the participation section in 22.18, besting 42 other competitors in the field.

Senior Connor Reilly also turned in a wining effort on Saturday, taking the top spot in the 100m of the performance section. Reilly ran a 10.63 to earn first, while sophomore teammate Brett Buskey was eighth in 11.02.

Reilly also led the Big Green contingent in the 200m, winning his heat in 21.80 and finishing seventh overall. Junior Jalil Bishop was one spot back of Reilly in both the heat and overall, taking eighth in 21.86.

In the 3000m steeplechase, junior Henry Sterling was the top collegiate runner and the second finisher overall, crossing the line in 9:08.08. Junior Will Geoghegan was seventh in 9:24.83.

The javelin saw sophomore Jim Budzinski take third with a measured throw of 197-0.0/60.05m.

On Friday night, Dom Filiano was first in his flight and fourth overall in the discus as his best toss measured 146-5.0/44.62m. Also on Friday night, sophomore Thomas Servino took home the top finish in the hammer throw with a 191-8.0/58.42m.

The High Point VertKlasse is a non-scoring meet.

The Big Green will host Vermont and UMass-Lowell next Saturday, March 30 in Hanover starting at 11 a.m. A select group will also head to Austin this week for the 2013 Texas Relays.
