PRINCETON, N.J.- Fresh off a 17 point, 13 rebound double-double against Columbia, sophomore forward Abbey Schmitt (Winnetka, Ill.) was named Ivy League Rookie of the Week. This is her third Ivy League honor of the season also claiming the award on Nov. 12 and Dec. 3. 

Schmitt joins teammate Lakin Roland (Jeffersonville, Ind.) as Big Green players to earn Ivy League honors this season. In fact, Dartmouth players have teamed with Harvard players to claim 10 of the 14 Ivy League Rookie of the Week honors this season.

Schmitt, who is playing her first season of collegiate basketball after sitting out last season with an injury, has been in integral part of Dartmouth's success this season. In the Big Green's win over Columbia she tallied her second career double-double with a game-best 17 points and 12 rebounds. It was her first double-double in Ivy league action and she helped the Big Green extend their win streak to four straight and five of the last six games.

The 6-0 forward is averaging 8.2 points per game and is Dartmouth's second -leading scorer. Schmitt has posted six games in double figures and five games with double-figure rebounds.  She joins Tia Dawson (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) as the lone big Green players to register double-doubles this season. Schmitt currently ranks in the top 10 among her Ivy League counterparts in rebounding (6.1/game), free throw percentage (.750) and offensive rebounds (2.5/game).

Dartmouth will take its four-game win streak on the road this weekend when it travels to Princeton and Penn. The Big Green will tangle with the first-place Tigers on Friday before closing the weekend at Penn on Saturday. Both games are scheduled for a 7 p.m. tipoff.
