HANOVER, N.H. - The Dartmouth women's hockey skated to a 2-2 tie with Rensselaer on Saturday afternoon in ECAC Hockey action at Thompson arena.

For the first time this season, the Big Green were unable to hold on to a lead after two periods as the Engineers scored a pair of goals late in the third to force overtime.

With the tie the Green and White run their conference unbeaten streak to five (4-0-1), while the Engineers snapped a four-game losing streak to pick up a point in conference play for the first time since topping Dartmouth 2-1 on Jan. 4.

The team from the Upper Valley is now 12-5-3 overall and 7-4-2 in ECAC play, while RPI is 6-15-3 and 4-7-1 in league contests.

For the second consecutive game, Dartmouth jumped out to an early lead as it tallied a pair of goals in the first period. Senior defenseman Sasha Nanji opened the scoring, firing a shot past the glove of Engineers netminder Kelly O'Brien 2:53 into play.

Later in the period, Sally Komarek gave the Big Green a two-goal advantage when she netted a goal with under 10 ticks remaining. Komarek's goal was her first in over a month and her third of the season.

After an uneventful second period, the third saw the squads combine for 16 penalty minutes and two goals.

The Engineers cut the deficit in half six minutes into the period as Eleeza Cox scored a power-play goal. The backbreaker for the Big Green came with 3:08 remaining when RPI's Jenn Godin scored her first goal of the season to tie the contest at two.

Dartmouth was whistled for a season-high 10 penalties in the game and it now ranks second in the conference with 316 penalty minutes. However, the special-teams unit performed well killing nine-of the-10 man advantage opportunities for RPI.

The woes continued for the Big Green on the power play as they converted only one-of-seven chances. Dartmouth had a two-man advantage midway through the third period and was unable to capitalize and stretch its lead back to two goals. O'Brien made a nifty blocker save on shot taken from just above the circle by Laura Stacey to keep RPI within striking distance.

Dartmouth returns to action Jan. 25-26, when they hit the road to take on ECAC Hockey foes St. Lawrence and No. 4 Cornell
