CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The No. 8 Dartmouth men's squash team began its winter season with a 9-0 loss Wednesday night at No. 3 Harvard. The night marked not only the team's season opener, but also its first look at Ivy League competition.
The Big Green's best effort of the night came as freshman James Fisch played the team's longest match of the day. Fisch came back to win the third game tie-break after falling behind 0-2. Despite his momentum, the first-year player narrowly fell in the fourth game, 11-9, to drop the match.
Sophomore Michael Mistras played an exciting first two games in his match with the Crimson's Tyler Olsen, playing both to 9-9 scores before falling 11-9 in each.
Dartmouth senior co-captain Chris Hanson, playing at No. 1, put up a strong showing against 2012 CSA Individual Champion Ali Farag, but lost 3-0 (11-8, 11-7, 11-5). Playing his best squash of the last six months, Hanson constantly was pushing Farag throughout the match, but was unable to match the defending champ's mobility.
The men will be back in action on Friday, Nov. 30 as they
take on St. Lawrence at 5 p.m. as part of the Fall Classic at Dartmouth. For a
