PRINCETON, N.J.- Fresh off a 14-rebound, 11-point outing against Bryant in the Dartmouth women's basketball season-opener, sophomore forward Abbey Schmitt (Winnetka, Ill.) earned Ivy League Rookie of the Week honors. She shares the honor with Harvard's Temi Fagbenle.

Schmitt, who was playing in her first collegiate game after sitting out the 2011-12 season with an injury, posted a game-high in rebounds and becomes the first freshman to have a double-double in her debut since Elise Morrison had 11 points and 10 rebounds in her debut in during the 2003-04 season.  She becomes the first Big Green player to earn Rookie of the Week since teammate Milica Toskovic (Santa Barbara, Calif.) claimed the final honor last season.

The Illinois native came to Dartmouth averaging 17.0 points and 9.5 rebounds at New Trier. She was an IBCA All-State second team selection and a Chicago Sun Times All-Area selection throughout her prep career. She was also an ESPN All-Area team selection.

Dartmouth is back in action on Tuesday (Nov. 13) when they welcome 2012 WCC Champion, BYU, to Leede Arena for the 2012-13 home opener. Tipoff is set for 5 p.m. and is the first game of a Dartmouth basketball doubleheader with the men's team taking on New Hampshire at 7 p.m.
