HANOVER, N.H. – Led by two goals from sophomore Daniel Warpecha, the Dartmouth men’s hockey team opened its 2017-18 preseason with a 2-1 exhibition win against visiting Windsor on Sunday afternoon at Thompson Arena.

Warpecha played off his linemates senior Kevin Neiley and junior and team captain Kevan Kilistoff, notching a goal in each of the first two periods. Neiley and Kilistoff assisted on both scores.

“This was a good game against quality outside competition,” head coach Bob Gaudet ’81 said. “We played well against a very good Windsor team that gave us everything they had. I’m happy with the result and what we can take from this game moving forward and build on.”

Senior Devin Buffalo made 15 saves, playing the first two periods before giving way to sophomore Adrian Clark who stopped the only two that found their way on goal in the third.

The only shot that beat Buffalo was one from the point on the power play with just one second remaining in the middle period from the stick of Kody Gagnon.

After Lancers starting netminder Paolo Battisti was injured just 7:08 into the game, backup Jonathan Reinhart came on to play the final 51-plus minutes, making 28 saves.

Dartmouth had its first official day of practice on Friday, giving the team just two real days of work to prepare for Sunday’s matinee.

The Big Green continue the preseason with another free exhibition contest Friday, Oct. 20 against the USA Under-18 National Team. Faceoff is set for 7 p.m.
