It was announced in August of 2017 that Taylor Black will join the Dartmouth heavyweight rowing team as an assistant coach for the 2017-18 season.
This is Black's second stint at the Friends of Dartmouth Rowing Boathouse, having served as an assistant on the lightweight rowing team from 2014-16. He spent the past year in the college’s development office as the assistant director for athletics fundraising.
Black began rowing at Brunswick School in Greenwich, Connecticut, and continued his career with the Cornell lightweight team. While in Ithaca, Black won a gold and silver medal at Eastern Sprints, as well as a silver medal at the IRA Regatta. Black was elected captain his senior year and was awarded the “Coaches Award” for his dedication and service to the program.
He graduated from Cornell in 2013 with a degree in American studies.
Since graduation, Black has worked and coached at several rowing camps and clubs, including the CRI of Boston, Boston University Rowing, and the Cornell Rowing Camp.
