The Big Green men's and women's cross country teams made the running world sit up and take notice this past week, led by seniors Abbey D'Agostino and Will Geoghegan. D'Agostino continues her winning ways coming in first at the Paul Short Invitational by a 26 second margin. Geoghegan continues to improve with every competition, finishing in third place at the prestigious Paul Short Invite.

Their efforts are rewarded by being named the Northeast Credit Union Athletes of the Week.

Each week, DartmouthSports.com will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as the Northeast Credit Union Athletes of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition.

Abbey D'Agostino (Topsfield, Mass.), Sr., Women's Cross Country

Like she did last fall, Abbey D'Agostino dominated the field of more than 400 runners from nearly 50 teams at the Paul Short Invitational on Saturday morning in Bethlehem, Pa. The senior from Topsfield, Mass., was the lone harrier to break the 20-minute mark, completing the course in 19:44 and besting the second-place runner by 26 seconds. For her second straight win at Paul Short and her second this fall, D'Agostino was tabbed by the US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as the Division I National Female Athlete of the Week.

Will Geoghegan (Brunswick, Maine), Sr., Men's Cross Country

The Dartmouth men's cross country team earned its highest-ever showing at the annual Paul Short Invitational on Saturday afternoon, claiming second in the standings. Leading the way was senior Will Geoghegan and his third-place individual showing. The Brunswick, Maine, native ran a 23:46 and helped the Big Green post 106 points on the day. The field of runners was nearly 400 as a total of 48 teams ran in the 8K Gold Race, further illustrating the impressive performance Geoghegan managed in warmer than usual conditions.
