Kate Heineman joined the Dartmouth Field Hockey Coaching Staff in the summer of 2013, fresh off graduating from UMass. In her first season with the Big Green, Heineman helped guide the team to a 7-10 overall mark and a 3-4 Ivy League record, good for fifth place in the standings.
Heineman is fresh off a collegiate playing career at Massachusetts that saw the Ellicott City, Md., native appear in 74 games with the Minutewomen from 2009-12. The 2013 UMass graduate had a banner year last fall as a senior, recording career highs in both points (14) and assists (10).
“I'm very excited to welcome Kate Heineman to our staff. Kate was a high-level player and recent graduate from the University of Massachusetts,” Fowler said. “As a midfield/forward herself, Kate has a good working knowledge of the game and will be helping in all aspects of the program. We are very happy to have her on-board for 2013."
In each of her final two seasons in Amherst, Heineman was named a member of the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) National Academic Squad for her work in the classroom as well as on the field.
As a senior, Heineman helped lead UMass to the 2012 Atlantic-10 Tournament Championship over No. 16 nationally ranked Richmond with a 5-0 victory in the title game. Heineman had two assists and a goal in the final against the Spiders just one day after also notching a pair of helpers in the semifinal against Temple.
As a member of the Big Green’s coaching staff, Heineman’s primary areas of responsibility will include on-field coaching of all positions, team travel, as well as on- and off-campus recruiting duties
