Why Dartmouth?

I grew up in New England and love Hanover's proximity to the outdoors, as well as Dartmouth's close-knit community and small student body.  What really drew me in were the passionate students I encountered when I visited.

How long have you been sailing and what got you interested in sailing?

I started sailing at Pleon Yacht Club, a junior sailing program in my hometown of Marblehead, MA, when I was 9.  I sailed at Pleon for eight summers, but stopped when I reached my sophomore year of high school.  During the spring of my senior year, a girl on the high school sailing team suggested I join.  I decided to give it a try and quickly realized how much I had missed it.  I've been sailing with Dartmouth ever since.

What Sailing or Academic achievements are you particularly proud of?

The women's team qualifying for Nationals last spring (2010)
6th place overall at Women's ACCs 2010
Women's team ranked 8th in the country (Fall 2010)

Tell us something interesting about you that might come as a surprise to your teammates.

I've never lived in the same house for more than 4 years.

What are your future sailing and career plans?

I hope to major in Biology and concentrate either in Ecology or Medicine.

What sports or activities did you pursue in high school, and what do you hope to continue at Dartmouth?

In high school I played softball during my freshman and sophomore years, then started sailing again my senior spring.  I plan to continue sailing at Dartmouth for the rest of my college career.
